I was unpleasantly surprised last night. Apparently I parked in the wrong spot one time too much, 'cause when I left work, it was to find my car clamped. At eleven o'clock, it's the ideal thing to have happen to you. So today I've been making amends with the car pound, paid my tickets and gotten my car back. So much for having a day off!

A dog owners biggest pride could possibly be when your dog actually does what it's told and you get to show people how well-trained your pooch is. Could I be right? I think I could, at least a little. I think many owners secretly feel that way. I know I've felt that way.

The reason I came to think of it was that I was out to visit my father at the ranch and drop off Gabe with his mother. Ella has taken in a new puppy and she was eager to show me what she taught him. He was pretty talented, but then again he's got Juno and Skip to learn from as well. His name, oddly enough, is Bucket. I don't know who would come up with that name for a dog, and Ella is as clueless as me. But he responds to it, so she's sticking with it rather than giving him a new one.

There are way too many animals on that ranch. But it's all good.
